Half term is almost upon us…

//Half term is almost upon us…

As is always the case, it is hard to believe that half term is almost upon us.  My goodness, a lot has taken place and we have already enjoyed a great deal of success. For example, I have just heard that our 1st XI football team top of the national U13 MiSOCS league, having won all their matches to date.  I have to say they are a very impressive side to watch.

We are looking forward to welcoming back our Threes (Year 6) children.  The whole year group have been in France since the early hours of Monday morning.  All reports suggest they have had a splendid time with lots of varied activities and challenges.

I am always amazed as to how much they change as a result of the experience; it is certainly a wonderful way to bond as a year group. Having been on the trip last year I look forward to chewing the cud with the staff who have led this weeks adventure.

Behind the scenes everyone in the Prep School world will have been keenly debating the future of the 13+ Common Entrance especially those of us who run stand alone schools whose total mantra is preparing young boy and girls for the step up to Senior Schools.

I am looking forward to being on a panel next week where a group of 100+ Prep and Senior School Heads meet up.  After the very unsettled political situation that has plagued this country over the last 3 years, the exit process from prep school to senior school is bound to be the main debating point.

In between all this we have much enjoyed introducing Ben and Alex Evans to the community.  Their next visit will be to introduce their two young sons to Windlesham.  What an exciting prospect for them and the family as a whole.  It brings back many memories of when Rachel and I moved our family from one school to another.  The added challenge in our case was moving from Kenya to the UK.  All this being 27 years ago.

Where has the time gone?

Richard Foster.
