Windlesham House School

Windlesham (the oldest Prep School in England) is one of the leading Pre-Prep and Prep schools in the UK for children aged 4 to 13. We welcome day and boarding children at any stage of their schooling, whether they are starting out or midway through. Children are welcome to board at Windlesham from the age of 7.

Early Years / Pre-Prep (age 4 to 7)

Windlesham-1176Windlesham’s Early Years / Pre-Prep  is affectionately known as ‘Little Windlesham’.  It is a small and nurturing environment for children aged between 4 and 7. We pride ourselves on ensuring that each child feels part of the Windlesham family from the moment they start. The classes are small and have specialist subject teaching.

They learn languages, musical instruments, visit the forest school and there is a wide range of extra-curricular activities available after school.

The school day runs from 8.30am to 3.30pm but children can come in for breakfast from 7.30am and we have a late club specifically for this age group where children can relax and play with their friends.

Prep (7 – 13)

Along with our boarders, Windlesham also has a happy and thriving community of day pupils throughout the school. They have access to every opportunity that is on offer to a boarding child midweek.

The school day runs from 8.10am to between 4.30pm and 6.30pm (depending on their year group). Being a boarding school as well, day children are welcome at breakfast from 7.30am and also supper after they do their prep (homework) which is supervised by a teacher.  On some evenings, there are enrichment lectures and extra-curricular activities so they would naturally stay for supper then.

We are proud of our excellent academic achievements thanks to an extremely dedicated staff of expert teachers who ensure that our children achieve the very best they can.

Last year saw 14 children achieve scholarships on to their senior schools, two of them gained the highly competitive ‘King’s Scholarships’ to Eton. To have 1 boy on the Eton Roll is a big achievement for any school, so to have 2 boys from Windlesham on the same Roll is testament to the teaching and of course the children themselves!

All the Year 8 children gained places at their chosen senior schools and Common Entrance results were the best ever.  The children went on to 35 different schools including Brighton, Marlborough, Lancing, Eton, Cranleigh, Bryanston, Seaford, Cheltenham etc.

But our children don’t just thrive academically, we have amazing facilities including a brand new, state-of-the art sports centre.  We also offer a full programme of arts, music, drama and sports and have over 250 extra-curricular activities to choose from!
