Year 5 gained some remarkable experiences and growth during their PGL trip to the Isle of Wight. This adventure was an opportunity for pupil’s to step out of their comfort zones and into a world of learning, self-discovery, and fun.

Throughout the trip, they embarked on a journey of personal development. They not only had a blast but also learned essential life skills that will serve them well in the future. Here are some of the highlights of their journey:

Teamwork and collaboration: Pupil’s discovered the importance of working harmoniously with others through various group activities. Whether it was conquering a high ropes course or solving complex puzzles, they learned that success often comes through collaboration and effective communication.

Empathy and understanding: Being away from home allowed our pupils to develop empathy for their peers who may have felt homesick. They learned to support and comfort each other, fostering a sense of compassion and understanding within the group.

Overcoming fears: Many of our young adventurers conquered personal fears, including heights and claustrophobia. Their bravery and determination were truly inspiring, showing that with the right support and mindset, they could overcome anything.

Problem solving and critical thinking: Activities such as the giant swing and laser tag required quick thinking and strategic planning. Pupils honed their problem-solving and critical thinking skills, gaining confidence in their abilities to tackle challenges head-on.

Stronger relationships: The bonds formed during this trip are truly heartwarming. Pupil’s built stronger connections with their teachers and friends, discovering the value of trust, respect, and camaraderie.

Learning to compromise: Living and working together for an extended period helped our pupils learn the importance of compromise. They realised that accommodating each other’s needs and preferences benefits everyone, a valuable lesson they can carry forward in life.

The PGL centre provided us all with not only excellent care but also delicious food, ensuring the children’s physical well-being throughout the trip. In addition to these life lessons, pupils enjoyed an exciting array of activities that added to their overall experience and the memories created during this trip will be cherished for years to come. It was a fantastic experience that allowed them to grow, learn, and have a ton of fun along the way.
