There has been a real buzz around Windlesham House since the start of term as pupils have thrown themselves into this year’s co-curricular programme with enthusiasm, energy and curiosity.
Every afternoon, the school comes alive with activity as children head off to clubs, lessons and activities, developing new skills, discovering new interests and spending time doing the things they love. It has been particularly encouraging to see so many pupils stepping out of their comfort zones and trying something new for the very first time.
For many of our newer pupils, the first few weeks have involved not only choosing activities but also learning the practicalities of school life: finding their way around, keeping track of their schedules and mastering the important skill of being in the right place at the right time. We have been delighted by how confidently they have embraced these new routines.
This term has also brought plenty of exciting opportunities. We are especially pleased to be introducing horse riding for Year 2 pupils, offering our youngest participants the chance to experience a completely new activity and develop confidence in a different setting.
Alongside our extensive in-house programme, we have welcomed back a range of external providers, giving pupils access to activities including ballet, street dance, karate and chess. These continue to be popular choices and provide opportunities for children to pursue individual interests and talents.
The cookery club has already proved a great success, with pupils creating fruit kebabs and delicious pita pizzas while developing practical life skills and confidence in the kitchen. The enthusiasm shown by our young cooks has been wonderful to see.
We have also enjoyed a busy start to our Saturday activities programme. From creative paper crafts to free swimming sessions filled with fun, floats and plenty of splashing, pupils have made the most of the wide range of opportunities on offer.
There has been further cause for celebration in the performing arts, with our LAMDA pupils achieving another outstanding set of results. We were delighted to congratulate pupils in assembly after they achieved a 100% pass rate, a reflection of their hard work, commitment and determination.
One of the greatest strengths of the Windlesham co-curricular programme is the breadth of experiences available to pupils. Whether developing a new skill, pursuing a passion or simply enjoying time with friends, there is something for everyone.
The term is still new and we are excited to see where our pupils’ interests, talents and ambitions take them in the weeks and months ahead.
