Our academic calendar is carefully planned to balance learning time with rest periods, ensuring pupils remain engaged and refreshed throughout the year. We follow a traditional three-term structure with half-term breaks.
Planning ahead is important for families, which is why we publish our term dates well in advance. This allows you to arrange holidays, family commitments and work schedules around the school calendar.

Exeat weekends occur once or twice per term when the school closes and all pupils go home. These long weekends provide important family time and allow staff to recharge. Exeat dates are published well in advance in the academic calendar.

During exeat weekends, the school mainly closes. We understand that some of our international boarders are not able to travel home and enjoy staying at school. Enquire via the school office for more information.

We strongly discourage absence during term time as it disrupts education and can affect pupils’ progress and wellbeing. However, we recognize that exceptional circumstances occasionally arise. Leave requests should be made in writing to the Head well in advance, explaining the circumstances. Permission is granted at the Head’s discretion and is not automatic. We expect families to plan holidays during school breaks.
If pupils are too unwell to attend lessons, they rest in the medical centre under qualified nurse supervision. For contagious illnesses or if pupils need home care, parents will be contacted to collect them. We follow Public Health England guidance on exclusion periods for infectious diseases to protect the wider school community.
Major events like concerts, sports fixtures and parent evenings are usually confirmed several weeks in advance and appear on the online calendar. We send weekly information letters and newsletters via email highlighting upcoming events. For urgent changes or last-minute additions, we will let you know immediately and the calendar is updated promptly to keep everyone informed.
