2023 Poetry Competition

This year’s poetry competition was a roaring success with every child across the entire school participating. Children were encouraged to find a poem they enjoyed and perform it to their class, with each class then recommending 2 to 3 pupils for the grand finals. The final performances involved 51 pupils, reciting and reading poetry from Michael Rosen to Thomas Hardy, W.H. Auden to June Crebbin. All of our finalists braved a large audience which only improved their effective use of intonation, volume and phenomenal gesturing to enhance the audience’s enjoyment. We had special guest performances from Mr Sutcliffe, Mrs Parkin, Mr Farrer, Ms Sutherland & Mrs Evans, and Ms Wild & Mrs Christie.

Congratulations to all the children who performed this week and especially to those with commendations and book prizes.
