Following the success of our 2025 Windlesham Bowl NFL Flag for Schools American football tournament, we were delighted to host another hugely successful and well‑attended event, welcoming 18 local primary and secondary schools. With the continued expansion of the programme, we welcomed both the U11 mixed and U13 mixed (all‑inclusive) teams on Monday 23 March 2026.
The standard of play, enthusiasm and sportsmanship on display reflected the rapid rise of NFL Flag as one of the fastest‑growing sports in the world. It was fantastic to see so many local schools and their young athletes engaging with this exciting and complex game.
Building on this momentum, we partnered with our friends at the University of Chichester, who were eager to host a second tournament on Friday 27 March 2026. This event featured the U15 open (mixed gender) and U15 girls‑only categories, attracting nine schools across both competitions. Following a late withdrawal in the U15 girls‑only category, we made the bold decision to enter our U13 girls team to ensure the competition remained balanced. Fully aware of the physical and developmental differences they would be up against, the team was encouraged simply to embrace the experience, give their best effort and enjoy the opportunity to compete at a higher level.
What followed was nothing short of extraordinary. Our U13 girls delivered a remarkable performance, showcasing exceptional skill, teamwork and composure well beyond their years. Not only did they rise to the challenge but they also went on to win every game and ultimately claim the tournament title in a true masterclass of NFL Flag football. This incredible achievement has secured them a place at the NFL Flag South East Regional event, taking place on Friday 24 April 2026 at Surrey Sports Park in Guildford.
We could not be prouder of them for demonstrating such courage, determination and success. We look forward to supporting them as they take the next exciting step in their journey. Their outstanding performance is a testament to the time they have devoted to studying the nuances of the game and their commitment to attending every available practice. Their poise, game craft and composure shone throughout the tournament, earning them many well‑deserved compliments at the end of the day.
