Monday 2 March 2026 will be remembered as a remarkable day of netball as the IAPS regional round took place at King Edward’s. With the sun shining overhead and a place at the national finals up for grabs, there was a real buzz in the air. With 20 teams competing and only the top three qualifying, the challenge ahead was clear, this would be a tough test of skill, resilience and determination.

Strong start sets the tone

The girls began confidently, securing an impressive victory over Seaford College. Sharp passing, composed shooting and relentless defence set the standard for the day. A narrow one-goal loss to Belmont followed in a tightly contested match, but spirits remained high. That result meant facing the winners of the opposite group, a daunting prospect but one the team embraced.

Finding their flow

Up next were Highfield and this is where the squad truly found their rhythm. Playing with fluid movement and growing confidence, they delivered a commanding win, showcasing some of their best netball of the tournament. With just one match standing between them and a place at nationals, the pressure was on.

A decisive victory

The final hurdle was Twyford. What followed was nothing short of sensational. The girls were outstanding in every area of the court, producing an emphatic victory. It was, without doubt, some of the finest netball they have played all season. Even during the final, when injuries threatened to disrupt momentum, the team showed immense resilience and determination. They never gave up, supporting one another every step of the way. Although lost by one goal we were happy, the whole squad got to play as part of a qualifying team and although a few scrapped knees, twisted ankles and bruised elbows we all knew that our journey as a team was not over.

National finals secured

Finishing second overall, the team proudly secured their place at the national finals, which will take place next Friday 13 March, at Rugby School. Umpires throughout the day commented on the squad’s exceptional standard of play – praise that was thoroughly deserved. Their teamwork, skill and sportsmanship truly stood out among the 20 competing teams.

This was a sensational day of netball and a performance to be incredibly proud of. Well done, team, nationals await!
