With Wisden worthy figures of three overs, three maidens and three wickets for 0 runs, Harrison had led his team to an improbably comfortable victory in 30 balls. Credit to the Cottesmore players who were magnanimous in defeat, which when it comes in that form is not easy to take – I speak from experience! – and to the Windlesham House fielders for putting recent disappointments behind them to seriously up their game. We will still need to play a lot better than this to have a successful season and learn to keep this type of bowling and fielding energy up on less helpful pitches when things aren’t going our way. Well done to the whole squad for a step in the right direction on a thrilling, if not slightly short afternoon of cricket. I was extremely proud of all of you.
