Windlesham Sports Academy is a four dimensional programme that has been set up at Windlesham House to provide pupils with the advanced style of sporting timetable they will need to become rounded athletes both physically and mentally.

Element one is sports specific coaching for each pupil’s chosen discipline (e.g. tennis or golf). This will be on site wherever possible but we also source high level coaches and venues when needed.

The second area of the program is strength and conditioning which is overseen by Stuart Williams, an accredited strength & conditioning coach (UKSCA) with over 12 years of experience  working with youth athletes across a variety of different sports.

“I am passionate about coaching and educating individuals to support them in their athletic development. I believe in a holistic and individualised approach which encompasses education, movement competency, strength training and injury reduction. Working with pupils one to one or in small groups will provide the opportunity for a bespoke development programme whilst promoting health, commitment and independence.”

The third aspect, ‘Mindset’ is perhaps the most under-used tool in coaching junior athletes but is a massive part of the training life of older athletes. Our pupils have access to an excellent online mindset course and regular masterclasses with former Sussex cricketer Lewis Hatchett.

Finally we have the enrichment element. The purpose of this is to open the eyes of our pupils to training venues and environments from the highest level of sport.  We do this by inviting guest speakers to school or visiting other schools, universities and clubs to see how professional level athletes train.

The academy program is open to applicants from the whole school, and programs can be tailored to suit all levels of pupils.
