Maths is not just about numbers

it is about thinking logically, finding patterns, looking for links, finding out what if I …

The mathematics department at Windlesham House is dedicated to delivering a dynamic and a forward-thinking curriculum. Our approach not only adheres to the national curriculum and the national numeracy strategy to ensure breadth of coverage but also exceeds these standards by fostering deep conceptual understanding and additional problem-solving skills. Our aim is to inspire students to think critically, explore and reason logically, and apply mathematical principles creatively in a variety of contexts, both within and beyond the classroom.

Our aim

Our approach centres on active, hands-on learning where students are engaged in ‘doing’ mathematics. This methodology ensures that students do not merely learn mathematical procedures, but also grasp the underlying concepts, making connections and discovering patterns through practical application. By embedding mathematical concepts and skills in meaningful contexts, we empower our pupils to become confident problem solvers and independent thinkers.

The Windlesham House community believes that mathematics education should be inclusive, engaging, and enjoyable. Our curriculum is designed to ignite curiosity and foster a lifelong love for mathematics, providing opportunities for all students to succeed and excel.
