Over the course of the Saturday morning sessions in the spring and summer terms, the Windlesham Diploma groups in Years 7 & 8 have been working hard on developing a deeper understanding of charities close to their hearts. They researched their chosen charities and presented in assembly in addition to planning ways in which they could not only raise awareness but also raise donations however small. On Friday 7 July, the groups organised and took part in a range of activities which was supported by pupils across the school. The afternoon was full of children taking part in a cyclathon, sponsored cricket net bowling, sponsored football matches and a sponsored run in addition to a jewellery sale and biscuit stall.
The following charities were supported through these charitable endeavours:
Disasters Emergency Committee
Cancer Research
National Autistic Society
Macmillan Cancer Support
Haviland House Dementia Care
The Dogs Trust
Many thanks to all who came and supported and those who have made generous donations to these chosen charities.
