On Saturday 10 June, Windlesham House had their annual sports day. The houses met in the MFT for the wonderful and colourful parade. Bader were chasing their fourth victory in a row and no house wanted that to happen (except Bader!). As you can imagine, it was competitive from the start. The heat was immense with the sun beating down on the field competitors, but it was a glorious day. The 800m and 1500m runners were amazing. Huge applause for the pupil who ran both events.

Records were broken and personal bests made. Sweat and tears were shared. The house spirit was fantastic with the community spirit even better. The highlight for me was the Year 8 100m final. The boys fought to the bitter end and finished in a draw. It really was the best race I have ever witnessed.

It was very close with the results as we entered the relays and tug of war and it was still anyone’s game. Always a highlight to finish off with. The victors ended up being Scott. It was a magical day and everyone performed amazingly!!!!

We would like to say a special thank you to our excellent and our exceptionally talented chief guest and alumnus, Nigel Rice. He gave a fascinating talk about his days at Windlesham House and his many records on the athletics field. We are so grateful to him for coming back and inspiring the next generation of Windlesham House athletes. A real highlight was Severin who kept returning to the obstacle course to better his time.  He became a real expert and was able to demonstrate the course to others. We also enjoyed sharing the obstacle course with younger siblings.
