The final few weeks of the cross-country season are always a busy time. Our senior squads kicked things off, competing in the Ardingly relay where the boys team took home silver medals. Our juniors followed suit the Thursday after on home turf in epically tough weather conditions, all 30 runners acquitting themselves incredibly well. The Year 6 team of Poppy, Carla, Christina, Jack, Felix and Lance followed the seniors in winning silver medals – a special mention to Lance for getting up after a fall to get over the line.  Additional runner of the day honours were given to Phoebe (Year 3), Alwyne (Year 4), Naomi (Year 5) and Obaro (Year 6).

On the following Tuesday our seniors were back in action at Christ’s Hospital with 23 runners competing in four races ranging from 2.5-3.5km and over 20 athletes in each race.  All runners managed to complete the course in good time with Taylor following up his gold last year with a brilliant silver medal and three others being selected to run for Sussex by virtue of finishing in the top 20; Max (8th), Gerry (9th) and Harrison (9th). We still await the team positions. Two U11 relay squads were competing at Dorset House at the same time in conditions which almost required some swimming!  Both teams did superbly with the boys finishing as runners-up and the girls as champions for the second year in a row.

Well done to all our runners and we hope that others will be inspired to join them soon.
