The perfect location to explore the environment

Our pupils explore both physical and human geography through case studies ranging from individual countries to isolated volcanoes. They develop key skills in geographical fieldwork, data analysis, map work, and essay writing, helping them to think critically about the world around them. Windlesham House’s location within the South Downs National Park, along with the school’s extensive grounds, provides an ideal setting for hands-on geographical investigations, allowing students to explore concepts such as micro-climates and human-environment interactions.

Our pupils achieve strong results in the Windlesham House Diploma & Futures Programme, demonstrating a deep understanding of the subject. With a diverse student body from around the world, they bring valuable first-hand knowledge of global events and local issues affecting their places of origin.

Stimulating learning through a multi-sensory approach

Teachers and guest speakers help to raise awareness of key geographical issues through various initiatives and events. Geography is also brought to life through engaging discussions, themed activities, and even meals that reflect different national cuisines.

Our strong geography results stem from a dynamic, multi-sensory approach to learning. Our pupils engage with a variety of resources, including books, maps, press articles, virtual experiences, and interactive digital tools. We also provide regular opportunities to develop key geographical skills through practical activities and assessments. Fieldwork is an essential part of the curriculum, with students exploring local and regional landscapes to deepen their understanding of geographical processes.
