Building Character and Inspiring Purpose

//Building Character and Inspiring Purpose

We were delighted to host a recent training day for independent schools that focused on building character values and developing more purposeful people, echoing the theme of the 2019 BSA Heads’ Conference – ‘Building Character’. The event had an excellent turn-out of leaders from prep and senior schools and was attended by the BSA Chairman and HMC Chair Elect. We were also thrilled to have an introduction to the day from Mike Buchanan, HMC Executive Director. Andrew Chua, Founder of Authentic Lives, facilitated the event and enabled those present to gain greater clarity around their core values and personal mission and purpose – the essence of who we are at our very best. Authentic leadership is a journey of self-awareness. As the philosopher Rumi wrote, “It’s your road and yours alone. Others may walk it with you but no-one can walk it for you.” The training day provided insightful self-awareness tools, enabling delegates to integrate their purpose into their whole life to ensure their contribution in their schools is the best that it can be. Andrew Chua, who led the day, has a career spanning 30 years and is highly experienced in the development of personal and organisational transformation and has led this session in 19 nations with many delegates saying it is life-changing. Here is some of the wonderful feedback we received from delegates reflecting on the day and their first visit to Windlesham:

“I was delighted to participate in the recent Leadership conference at Windlesham alongside influential educators and change-makers working to promote positive education. Andrew Chua enabled those present to gain greater clarity around their values and how to delve more deeply into their personal mission and purpose.” Mike Buchanan, HMC Executive Director

“Thank you for a fabulous day! It was wonderful to visit Windlesham for the first time – what a beautiful school! The event you hosted really was outstanding. I am so grateful for the opportunity to experience this day and connect with likeminded colleagues seeking to make a difference in education.” Lizzy Lewis, P4C Trainer (Philosophy for Children)
