‘Virtually’ Speech & Open Day 2020

As my final blog before I retire as a Headmaster, I wanted to share a video that was broadcast on our Speech & Open Day, the last day of term at Windlesham.

Usually Open Day would be a grand event with all the families and staff and alumni present as we showcase co-curricular work and our Year 8s perform their leavers play, with picnics across the grounds and a final farewell tea in the marquee. However, for obvious reasons, this did not happen this way this year.

Instead the speeches from myself and our Chair of Governors were filmed and broadcast live on that day:

We also invited our Year 8 leavers back for a get-together at the school, albeit in ‘bubbles’, before they go off to their respective senior schools.
It was lovely to see a large amount of them back that day and we wish them well for the future.

When the time and guidelines permit, they will be invited back to Windlesham for their proper leavers’ party!

I hope you enjoy the speech in which I say my goodbyes. Windlesham is in very good hands with Ben and Alex Evans taking the helm and I wish everyone well.

I hope you all have a restful summer.
