‘Enhancing the facilities at Windlesham is crucial to our success’

The Windlesham Foundation

The Windlesham Foundation’s has two aims.  Firstly, we help former pupils stay in touch with classmates and colleagues through our thriving OWL’s community.  We organise regular events and our HOOT newsletter.

Our second aim is fundraising for Windlesham House School. We have benefited over the years from the foresight and generosity of our predecessors and former parents, who made possible many of the facilities that our children enjoy today.  Since The Foundation’s creation, it has raised funds for Scholarships and Bursaries, allowing a new generation of children to benefit from a Windlesham education.  The Foundation has also raised funds for vital works at the School, including the building of the new astro-turf, which opened in 2014.

Current Capital Development Plans

Our vision is to ensure that Windlesham House School remains one of the country’s happiest, most inspirational and innovative prep-schools.

While the academic curriculum is at the core of what we do, sports and extra-curricular activities develop our children’s independence and co-operation, greatly supporting their learning in the classroom.  There is no doubt that having the right facilities in place is key to enabling us to do this for the children.

Our Journey So Far

Our swimming pool was built over 80 years ago, the first prep school to do so, but now rather out of date. Although it has worked very hard for us, nurturing some Olympian swimmers, technology and pool design have come a long way since then.

30 years ago The Malden Family Theatre was built, again forward thinking for a prep school.  Due to demands on space, it has served as both a centre for performing arts and an indoor gymnasium, an arrangement that has its limitations in a school as busy as Windlesham.  With a new purpose built sports facility we will also unlock the full potential of the Malden Family Theatre and be in a position to enhance both our sports and performing arts offering.  However projects on this scale are not possible through fees alone.

These capital development plans divide into two phases:

Phase 1:  Campbell Field Astro

Successfully completed in 2014, this freed up the space for the new pool and sports complex and included floodlighting, 8 additional cricket nets, spectator shelters and a pavilion.

Phase 2: Sports Centre

The hoardings are down to reveal the true splendour of Windlesham’s new and dedicated sports facility.  This exciting new facility is transformative for the children and community.

Mark Duncan, Director of Sport “I am lucky enough to oversee a thriving sports department and one that has seen great success in recent years from county cups to regional honours and even national representations.  Our ageing swimming pool and sports hall have served us well but our new sports complex will enable us to revolutionise our sports provision.”

We can now return the MFT to be solely for music and performing arts.  Ultimately, all of our children will benefit from a wider range of opportunities, which these additional spaces and facilities will provide.

Take the Plunge –be part of the Windlesham story

Over 100 Windlesham families, past and present have made a gift to this campaign.  Recognising this is a crucial project that will contribute to the success of Windlesham and be transformative for children today and generations to come.

Donors are being acknowledged by having their names incorporated into a stunning illustration on the main glass window in the reception area of the new building.  Based on the children’s idea it will have a woodland theme, and the family name of donors will be incorporated into this beautiful design.
