It is very fitting that, in the year when the school celebrates being in existence for 175 years, that we launch the Windlesham Foundation.

This Foundation will comprise of three funds: a bursary fund, a hardship fund and a capital development fund.

Bursary and Hardship

The bursary and hardship funds will help give gifted and underprivileged children the opportunity to come to Windlesham and develop their talents.  The benefits of this can be seen already with the children who are here under this scheme.

New Development

As one of the country’s leading and adventurous co-ed prep schools, we must continuously seek to improve our facilities in order to maintain our standing and offer our pupils the best and most modern facilities.

Our current swimming pool is 35 years old and although it has worked very hard for us and nurtured some Olympian swimmers, its 12 metre length is half the length of a modern competition pool and its 4 lanes do no allow enough space for our ‘six-house’ intra-school competitive events and has almost no space for supporters to cheer the teams on.  Our sports hall facilities are currently in the dual purpose ‘Malden Family Theatre’ which was built in the 1980s, a fabulous facility and in constant use by our children but also used by our local community for concerts, plays and meetings.  The theatre undergoes an almost daily transformation, pulling out the tiered seating for assemblies and performances then pushing them back to return the space to a sports hall.  The storage of tables and chairs also jockeys for position with sports equipment.

Windlesham is renowned for its music and performing arts as well as its sports.  In order for our children to achieve their full potential across both disciplines, they would greatly benefit from having a new 25 metre, 6 lane swimming pool and a dedicated sports hall. This would then release the theatre to become, with some modification, a performing arts centre.

The architects, Neil Holland Architects, are a local, well established practice, founded in 1973. They have produced excellent plans which are sympathetic to the environment and surroundings. As you can see, the architect plans show the scope and design of the proposed development.   We now need to raise a substantial sum of money in order to go ahead.

Windlesham needs to move forward with this development plan and the knock-on effect will mean further new facilities can be created in the current swimming pool area.
