Admissions Process

A prospectus is immediately sent out to parents who make contact with the School and, hopefully, a visit is then made to see the School in action. The Headmaster, Richard Foster, will talk extensively to parents and give a tour of the site. Visits take place on weekdays or Saturday mornings. After the visit, the Registration Form may be returned to the School along with a non-refundable registration fee of £100. Parents interested in the pre prep, Little Windlesham, also go on a tour with plenty of opportunity to discuss their child's education. It should be noted here that pupils joining the Main School from Little Windlesham are not required to pay a further registration fee.

Children usually start at the beginning of the academic year in September. However, we do accept children in January and April. A summer term start is quite popular for boarders.

Parents are asked to confirm their offer of a place nine months prior to arrival (term of entry) and a deposit is then required to reserve the place. This deposit will not be refunded if this place is not taken up and it is credited against any extras incurred during the pupil’s last term.

Boys and girls are generally accepted into the Main School at the beginning of the academic year following their 7th birthday, entering as either boarding or day pupils. Older pupils can also be accepted provided places are available higher up the School.  Little Windlesham, our pre-prep, generally accepts children into Reception in the September following their 4th birthday.

Prospective pupils entering into the Main School are invited to come and spend a whole day and/or night in the term preceding their entry. During this taster day, an assessment is made of their academic potential for setting purposes. Pre-prep children are not assessed into Reception but they are from Year 1 onwards.

Fees are payable in advance and must be received by the first day of term. A full term's notice must be given prior to the removal of a child from the School, otherwise a full term's fees in lieu of notice will be charged. "Extras" are kept to a minimum and include those activities not included within the established curriculum, such as individual music lessons. The School is an existing customer of HTC.

We do hope we have managed to answer all your questions about admission into Windlesham. If you have any other queries, please do not hesitate to contact our Admissions Secretary.
