BBC2 screened a programme which featured three ‘fathers-to-be,’ one of whom was Jamie Newton, husband of Nicole (nee Liddell ’94 s
ee below). Central to the‘story’ obviously was how he coped with the birth of their baby Ella, which took place at the Chelsea and Westminster Hospital. Nicole clearly had her part to play too (!), but, most extraordinarily, so too did the attending mid-wife, none other than Natasha Cullen (nee Scrimgeour ’01 right). It was an amazing piece of Windlesham serendipity and one that was especially delightful in that during the proceedings their mutual Windlesham connection did actually emerge in conversation! What a tribute to the ‘network’!

On March 20th on BBC2 in an edition of Horizon, the presenter was surgeon and author Gabriel Weston (’83). The programme, entitled The Truth About Fat,’ gave a fascinating insight into why people are piling on the pounds and focused on the very latest research into how what she called ‘the disease of obesity’ can be confronted.

The BAFTA Awards 2011: Best Features programme:
Harry Fenn (’10) is currently starring in Coriolanus, directed by and starring Ralph Fiennes. Seen here below with Vanessa Redgrave, John Kani and Jessica Chastain, Harry plays Young Martius, his first major role which he landed while still here at Windlesham. The reviews have been amazing and we are all very proud of him.

Tamzin Merchant (2000), who can be seen playing the beautiful Rosa Bud in The Mystery of Edwin Drood on BBC2 from January 10th.
Edwin Drood, Charles Dickens’s great unfinished work, was incomplete when the master writer died in 1870 and has now been given a new ending by writer Gwyneth Hughes in a major BBC adaptation. Tamzin plays Rosa Bud, Edwin Drood’s 17 year old fiancée who is starting to have reservations about their long-standing betrothal.
Tamzin’s breakthrough role was in the 2005 big-screen adaptation of Pride and Prejudice. Since then she’s appeared in many films and TV dramas, including Jane Eyre, The Tudors and DCI Banks.
